Membership Services Staff

This role will be the “face” of the Peoria YMCA by providing high quality customer service for members and guests of the YMCA.  The perfect addition to our Member Engagement Team will:

  • Be upbeat, mature and responsible candidates to work our membership desk evenings and weekends.
  • Have excellent customer service, have basic computer skills, and be a fast learner, able to learn on-the-job.
  • Maintain a positive and organized work environment contributing to a friendly and inviting atmosphere both emotionally and physically.
  • Have a great phone manner, answering in a positive and courteous manner, handling questions as appropriate, referring calls to other staff members and taking accurate and complete information for messages when necessary.
  • Greet members and guests enthusiastically when they arrive using the established check-in practice to provide access to the YMCA facilities.
  • Encourage YMCA membership purchase and use.
  • Handle customer concerns and complaints diplomatically within established guidelines and procedures.
  • Work within the established record-keeping system to provide accurate information as payments are received for programs, classes and memberships.
  • Assist in clerical and detail-oriented work such as mailings and return calls as work flow and work demands allow.


Teen REACH-Assistant (One Position)


This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in Teen REACH program.  Provides direct supervision to a group of middle school and high school students in an afterschool setting. Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilities peer-to-peer connections as apart of the overall TEEN REACH experience. The program runs Monday-Friday from 2:30pm through June.



  1. Assists in supervises a group of of children.
  2. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  3. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
  4. Attends meetings and trainings.
  5. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures and child abuse. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  6. Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills including (Listen First) in all interactions.
  7. Instructs lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
  8. Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
  9. Conveys information on program and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs.
  10. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
  11. Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Provides operational, supervisory, instructional and administrative support to the Senior Program Director for all CATCH Programming. CATCH stands for Coordinated Approach to Child Health. By uniting multiple players in a child’s life to create a community of health, CATCH is proven to prevent childhood obesity and supported by 25 years and 120 academic papers indicating as much as 11% decrease in overweight and obesity. Our community health programs aim to impact the messaging a child receives in physical education, the lunchroom, the classroom, and at home, to influence a child’s choices not only in school, but lifelong.

The CATCH Assistant will assist in establishing new CATCH sites, conduct assessments and provide analytical support. Ensures all participants are afforded a quality experience and programs reflect the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Hours vary Monday through Saturday, approximately 12-15 hours per week.


  1. Provides supervisory support at all community CATCH locations.
  2. Trains and supervises CATCH staff and outside agency staff.
  3. Establishes new sites for program delivery.
  4. Creates and delivers nutritional education programing to participants.
  5. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, inventory, etc.).
  6. Conducts and analyses assessments.
  7. Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
