Wellness Coach

The Peoria YMCA is looking for a part-time Wellness Coach.  Our Wellness Coaches assist YMCA members in finding new ways to inspire healthier habits through health & wellness. The position will work closely with members in promoting wellness and helping individuals realize their personal best. Wellness Coaches are responsible for developing relationships with members and assisting them through the process of actively working towards better health by providing support, encouragement, and education. Membership Services Staff

This role will be the “face” of the Peoria YMCA by providing high quality customer service for members and guests of the YMCA.  The perfect addition to our Member Engagement Team will:

  • Be upbeat, mature and responsible candidates to work our membership desk evenings and weekends.
  • Have excellent customer service, have basic computer skills, and be a fast learner, able to learn on-the-job.
  • Maintain a positive and organized work environment contributing to a friendly and inviting atmosphere both emotionally and physically.
  • Have a great phone manner, answering in a positive and courteous manner, handling questions as appropriate, referring calls to other staff members and taking accurate and complete information for messages when necessary.
  • Greet members and guests enthusiastically when they arrive using the established check-in practice to provide access to the YMCA facilities.
  • Encourage YMCA membership purchase and use.
  • Handle customer concerns and complaints diplomatically within established guidelines and procedures.
  • Work within the established record-keeping system to provide accurate information as payments are received for programs, classes and memberships.
  • Assist in clerical and detail-oriented work such as mailings and return calls as work flow and work demands allow.

Youth Sports (CATCH) Assistant

Provides operational, supervisory, instructional and administrative support to the Senior Program Director for all CATCH Programming. CATCH stands for Coordinated Approach to Child Health. By uniting multiple players in a child’s life to create a community of health, CATCH is proven to prevent childhood obesity and supported by 25 years and 120 academic papers indicating as much as 11% decrease in overweight and obesity. Our community health programs aim to impact the messaging a child receives in physical education, the lunchroom, the classroom, and at home, to influence a child’s choices not only in school, but lifelong.

The CATCH Assistant will assist in establishing new CATCH sites, conduct assessments and provide analytical support. Ensures all participants are afforded a quality experience and programs reflect the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Hours vary Monday through Saturday, approximately 12-15 hours per week.

Y-Achievement School Site Coordinator

 DAYS & HOURS:  August through Mid-May 6:00am-8:30am and 3:00pm-6pm (Start time varies by school)

The Peoria YMCA is looking for a motivated, fun and energetic person to provide leadership at a Y Before & After School Site.  Responsibilities include preparing daily lesson plans, providing guidance and leadership with a group of children and assisting the Director of Youth Development.

Food Program Coordinator

In 2011, Walmart and the Y teamed up to make a big impact. Since then, hundreds of local Ys now provide food for after school and summer programs. Last year alone, the Y served more than 13 million meals and snacks to almost 500,000 youth. Each year, the Y and Walmart continue to expand the number of children served nationwide. We’ve learned firsthand that year-round access to food paired with enriching activities helps undernourished children flourish.

The Peoria YMCA’s food program will serve snacks and meals to hundreds of kids each year. Our philosophy is to nourish minds, bodies and spirits. With healthy food and fun activities, the Y Food Program offers a safe place where kids can try new things, make new friends and be a part of something great.

Under the direction and supervision of the Senior Program Director and in harmony with the local school district staff, the Food Service Coordinator shall be responsible for coordinating HEPA food implementation and delivery to school age sites and overall food organization in the community provide food preparation for the School Age meals. Special emphasis will be on data collection and data management and well as program delivery.

Rebound-Game Floor Manager

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Game Floor Manager provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for youth and reports the Rebound Coordinator. The position will be responsible for the game, volunteer, and participation management. Specifically, coordinating  the management of volunteers of game clock, referees, code of conduct, opening sports pledge, and embodying the values of the YMCA to ensure that a high quality mentoring sports program is achieved.
