The Peoria YMCA has a renewed commitment to developing strong, effective and impactful youth and family programs.

Effective January 1st, Ellen Corbin accepted a new role for our YMCA, as the Director of Youth and Family Programs. This has been an area of significant need for our Y and I am very excited to have Ellen leading this effort.

Ellen has been a part of our Y family for nearly 3 years, and has served in several capacities. After graduating from the University of Illinois, Springfield in 2016 with a Bachelor’s in Accountancy, Ellen began her Y career as Billing Coordinator at the Greater Peoria Family YMCA; she was able to use the position as an internship to fully complete her degree.

As her career with the Y developed, she was promoted to the Accounting, HR & Administrative Assistant position. She was assigned payroll duties and implemented a New Hire Orientation for 130+ employees. She also assisted in overseeing our operating budget each year, and streamlined the on-boarding process for new employees here at the Y.

Ellen is stepping into her new position with full force. She believes in the mission of the Y and is passionate about strengthening the community we live in. She’s determined to grow sustainable and quality youth and family programs here at the Y and I believe she is perfect for this new role.

Programs will include youth sports, such as Little Kids Basketball and Flag Football, which both begin in January.

Congratulations Ellen, your Y family is happy for you and eager to support you in this new journey!

Our vision is to have a healthy menu of youth sports and family engagement programs throughout the entire year, and Ellen’s athletic background, outgoing personality and servant heart will serve her and our members very well.
