Pool Update, May 31, 2019

Progress is happening for the Y’s outdoor pool.  Unfortunately, the unrelenting rain is still causing delays. This year’s record breaking precipitation has hit Central Illinois hard. Despite this, our contractors are working hard whenever the weather allows.

The lane lines are going down, which is one of the last steps before we can start filling the pool. As soon as water starts going in, we will have a better idea of an opening day. Right now, it looks like the earliest we will be able to open will be the end of next week.

Programs that were scheduled to begin next week will be impacted as follows:

  • Swim Team – Swim team will begin the first day the pool opens. Team participants will receive communication via email and the team’s Facebook page.
  • Swim Lessons – Lessons scheduled to begin next week will be delayed one week, beginning Monday, June 10th. Our Membership Team will be calling all registered participants to confirm the updated dates.
  • Aquatic Group Fitness Classes – Classes will begin the first day the pool opens. Members will be notified through the YMCA App and Facebook.

I appreciate everyone’s understanding of the delays we have experienced. We are as ready as you are to jump in and enjoy this great resource. Please know that we are working hard to open as soon as possible.
