Road construction near the Y

I wanted to take this opportunity to make you aware of a new road construction project that is going to begin Monday, June 4th, that will likely impact your commute to and from the Y.

This project will encompass approximately six months of time and will impact many of you. The intersection at Allen Road & Willow Knolls Road is going to be completely redone and it will happen in four phases over the next six months. Each phase will last approximately six weeks. The first phase of the project, which starts next Monday, will be to remove the medians and center lanes on all four sides of the intersection. This means that all left hand turns are prohibited during this phase, and all traffic will be reduced to single lanes.

We will send out more communication on this once they are ready to move into phase two. Please review the details and plan your route accordingly as you travel to and from the Y, as well as, any other businesses impacted by this project.

Although this will be an inconvenience for many, I think you will agree that an improved intersection is long overdue and will be a significant blessing to our community. I would like to thank the leadership from both the City of Peoria and Peoria County for their thoughtful approach to this project. They have been open to allowing community input into this process and have done a great job of communicating their plan so that we all can be prepared.

Thank you for your support of the Y, where you Belong to Something Greater!
