Before, After, and All-Day Care

The Greater Peoria Family YMCA, has announced today that it will be providing ALL-DAY Care for Peoria Public School students and Before/After School Care for students who attend Concordia Lutheran or Oak Grove (Bartonville).

“As a parent, I know that back-to-school time is already hectic,” said Paul Larson, YMCA Senior Program Director.  “We’ve been working hard to do our part to help families through the uncertainty of heading back to the classroom during COVID.  We know that it can get overwhelming fast.”

To address the concerns of parents the YMCA is offering flexible care for students ages 5-14 during the school week through several programs.

Scholarships are available.

PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS – “Y-Achievement” is available for students in Kindergarten through 4th grade attending Peoria Public Schools.  The YMCA will provide full-time programming from 6:30am-6pm Monday through Friday. Each  child will participate in activities that focus on the following core content areas: arts and humanities, character based education, free play, homework support, literature, service based learning, and nutrition and fitness.

MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS – “Student Leadership Development” program is available for students in 5th-8th grade attending Peoria Public Schools of Dunlap Valley Middle School.  This program is a part of YMCA Teen REACH – an initiative that provides a variety of services to support students and their families. Each day at the Greater Peoria Family YMCA, we will work to provide meaningful youth programming to support young leaders and change makers as they navigate their youth development journey into successful adulthood. Our work seeks to nourish the potential in each teen, and to equip them with the tools and resources they need to thrive.

CONCORDIA LUTHERAN & OAK GROVE (Bartonville) STUDENTS – child care provided by the YMCA in a safe, familiar space.  Beginning at 6:30am until school begins and again at the end of the school day until 6pm this program is designed to provide your child with fun, engaging activities that promote the healthy development of their spirit, mind, and body.

Reduced program and membership fees are available through the Greater Peoria Family YMCA. Rates will be based upon the household income and size of the family. A sliding scale is used to determine fees. Scholarship recipients must reapply annually. To qualify for child care assistance through the YMCA, parents must have been denied by Child Care Connections (CCC) first.  If you do not qualify for CCC, you may apply for scholarships through the Peoria YMCA.
