Who is affected by this change?

Current members, regardless of their membership category, at each facility will be able to access full, unlimited access to amenities and programming at both the RiverPlex and the Greater Peoria Family YMCA beginning on January 1.   The RiverPlex and the Y will work to host a series of member open houses during the month of December so that you’ll be ready to run and meet your New Year’s resolutions beginning January 1.

You’ll be getting new member cards that will help you access both locations with ease and we’ll be doing our very best to share information with you as quickly as we have it to make this a positive experience for everyone!

Community members who want to join this collaborative will be able to purchase memberships beginning on Friday, November 26. 


What will it cost?

That’s one of the best parts! As a member, you will enjoy MORE hours to exercise, MORE classes to motivate, and MORE amenities to enjoy… AND you will pay the same as you do now!

Where will I be able to access fitness and aquatics experiences with my new membership?

Beginning January 1, 2022, members of the RiverPlex and the Greater Peoria YMCA will be able to access member experiences at BOTH LOCATIONS.

When will the changes take place?

All increased member benefits will begin on January 1, 2022, but communications will begin with new and current members in December so that you’re ready to make the most of your new experience! We’re also planning open houses at both locations so that you’ll be comfortable with your options and ready to rock it in January! 


Why is this change happening?

The Peoria Park District, OSF, and the Greater Peoria Family YMCA have been in talks for more than a year with the goal of finding a unique public-private collaborative that is grounded in a shared commitment to ensuring equitable access to high quality fitness and recreation available to all parts of our Peoria community.

It is our shared belief that this is a key first step… getting the joint memberships of the two fitness facilities to work together, along with our expert staff, to build a community that is unparalleled in our region. 

The partners believe that this expanded collaboration will provide a stronger member experience and shared resource opportunities.


How can I access class and hour information?

As you always have, and for now, please rely on your current facility’s website for class and hours of operation information. Staff at both locations will work on a shared class schedule and other information that will be linked to both facilities’ websites. As we find efficiencies, we’ll share those via regular email communications with all members. 


Who can answer my questions if I have them?
