Meet Coach Emily!
Emily Diederich began dancing at the age of three, training at local studios in various styles including ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary. Emily was a competitive dancer for seven years and trained at some of the highest pre-professional companies in north-central Illinois until she was sixteen. While continuing her dance education, she began assisting and leading children’s dance classes at her home studio. Over the last three years, Emily has instructed dance classes and camps of various styles and levels as well as worked as a choreographer for children’s theatre productions.
Emily is currently a student at Bradley University studying elementary education with an ESL endorsement. She plans on continuing her dance education and teaching throughout college and beyond.
Emily is extremely passionate about dance and the Peoria community. She is excited to share her knowledge of dance while leading the 3 programs at the Peoria YMCA.
DANCE CAMP:
Over two days, students will be introduced to dance basics, play games, do fun activities, read stories, have a snack, and learn a short dance. activities will take place throughout the building but will mainly take place in studio 1.
DANCE CLINIC:
YMCA’s Summer Dance Clinic takes a deeper dive into dance. Over 5 days, students will learn foundational techniques and terminology for a variety of dance styles. At the end of the program, students will host a performance to showcase their hard work and new skills.
