Dawn Cassulo discovered her love for fitness back in 1979 as a class participant and quickly realized she wanted to be on the other side of the mic. She began teaching in 2004 and, with a few breaks along the way, has been instructing for 16 years, including the past two at the YMCA. Dawn is certified in Group Fitness, TRX, and Spinning, and has a passion for leading water aerobics and group strength classes. Her fitness philosophy is all about balance—she follows a whole-food, plant-based diet for health and works out so she can enjoy good food freely. Dawn brings energy, fun, and great music to her Aqua Fit classes, creating an uplifting environment that keeps members moving and smiling. Her motto? Move it or lose it!
Denise Cooksey’s love for fitness runs deep—it’s what keeps her body moving, strong, and ready to enjoy everything life has to offer. With over 20 years of experience as a group fitness instructor, including the past 4 years at the YMCA, Denise brings both passion and expertise to every class she leads. She holds multiple certifications including AFAA Group Exercise and Personal Training, along with Les Mills RPM, Sprint, Grit, BodyPump, and Core. Denise is also certified in Silver Sneakers Classic, Yoga, Enerchi, Aqua Fit, Arthritis Aquatics, and Aqua Personal Training—continuously updating her knowledge every two years to stay at the top of her game. Ellery Losby’s passion for wellness began in college, where she combined her love of movement with her studies in nutrition and dietetics. After discovering Les Mills classes, she quickly fell in love with how exercise made her feel—and the supportive community that came with it. That passion led her to take the next step: becoming an instructor. Now with 10 years of experience teaching group fitness and over a year with the YMCA, Ellery brings a mix of expertise, energy, and encouragement to every class. She’s certified in Les Mills BodyPump and Sprint, with advanced BodyPump training under her belt. Her fitness philosophy? “Everything in moderation. Something is better than nothing!” She believes showing up, no matter where you're starting from, is already a win. Gina Isada’s journey into the fitness world started right at the YMCA—as a member who loved taking group classes. Her curiosity and love for trying new things led her to ask, “Why not try teaching too?” Ten years later, Gina is still sharing her energy and encouragement with YMCA members through classes like Core Strength and HIIT Cycle. She’s passionate about helping others build strength, stay active, and feel good—physically and mentally. Her fitness philosophy? “Use it, or lose it!” She believes movement is essential to keeping both body and mind sharp, and she creates classes that are effective, challenging, and always welcoming. Her favorite class to teach is Les Mills Core, a powerful workout that targets key muscle groups in the trunk—think abs, glutes, back, quads, hamstrings, and shoulders. By day, Memo is a dedicated engineer at Caterpillar—but when it’s time to move, he trades blueprints for barbells and brings his energy to the fitness studio! With 11 years of instructing experience and over 3 years at the YMCA, Memo is certified in an impressive range of Les Mills programs, including BODYCOMBAT, BODYPUMP, Core, GRIT, Sprint, The Trip, RPM, Functional Strength, and SHAPES, as well as UCanRow indoor rowing. No matter the format, Memo is all about helping participants push limits while having fun. Memo’s fitness philosophy? “Change is the only constant—so let’s drive it in a positive direction and challenge ourselves!” While his favorite class varies by season, BODYCOMBAT is consistently at the top of the list. Irina Foster didn’t grow up in fitness—in fact, she describes herself as a geek in school. But everything changed in college when she discovered the joy of movement. From triathlons and boxing to Olympic lifting, CrossFit, and yoga, Irina fell in love with fitness and the empowering community that comes with it. She’s been instructing for 8 years in both Ukraine and the U.S., and has been part of the YMCA family for the past 3.5 years. Irina holds specialized training in CrossFit, Strength Development, and RPM, and is currently pursuing her yoga certification. Her fitness philosophy is all about finding joy in movement and turning it into a daily practice—where body and mind align, and friends turn into your workout family. She teaches every class with energy and heart, always ready to sweat with you, support you, and celebrate your progress. She’s trained in a wide variety of formats, including Les Mills RPM, Sprint, SHAPES, Strength Development, Aqua Aerobics, Step, Interval Training, and Kickboxing. Keith began studying Chinese Martial Arts in the mid-1970s and has been teaching Tai Chi for over 40 years. Since joining the YMCA in 2016, Keith has brought his decades of experience and passion for mindful movement to every class he leads. His goal is simple but powerful: to help others improve their daily lives through the gentle, focused practice of Tai Chi. Kristi DeJarld has been inspiring others through movement for over 45 years—and she’s just as passionate today as when she took her very first Jazzercise class at 18. Hooked by the energy of the fitness boom in the 1980s, Kristi discovered that you don’t have to be an athlete to love fitness—you just need great music, a little rhythm, and a lot of heart. For the past five years, Kristi has been sharing her love of movement at the YMCA, bringing a wealth of training and experience to every class. She holds certifications from AFAA, ACE, and a long list of specialty programs including STEP, SPINNING, YogaFit, Pilates, Zumba, Silver Sneakers, Line Dance, Kettlebell, Power Flex, Barre, Pound—you name it, she’s taught it! With 8 years of instructing experience and a recent start at the YMCA, Laura brings heart, humor, and high energy to every class. She’s certified in Cycling and Les Mills Sprint, a fast-paced HIIT workout on the bike that happens to be her favorite to teach. Her philosophy is simple and empowering: anyone can do anything—just modify when you need to, and keep going! She creates a welcoming space where members of all fitness levels feel supported, challenged, and encouraged. Her favorite class to teach is BodyAttack—it’s high-energy, upbeat, and packed with fun. Stacy is certified in Spinning, step, strength training, Pilates, kettlebells, and yoga, and she’s passionate about making fitness accessible to everyone. Her philosophy? You can do it. Whether you're modifying moves or pushing your limits, she’ll meet you where you are and help you reach your goals—with encouragement, care, and a little sweat along the way. Tricia Tripp’s fitness journey began back in 2010 when a friend talked her into attending her first SPIN class—and she’s been hooked ever since. Inspired by the energy of the instructors and the community vibe of the class, Tricia knew she wanted to pay it forward and become an instructor herself. Since 2011, she’s been leading fun, effective workouts, and she’s been part of the YMCA family since 2018. Tricia is certified in SPINNING and TRX, and she’s passionate about making sure every class is safe, energizing, and welcoming. Whether you’re climbing hills on the bike or working on strength and stability with TRX, her classes are designed to meet you where you are—no pressure, just progress. Her all-time favorite? SPINNING will always be her first love, but TRX and WERQ are close runners-up! Yolanda Rush brings a joyful, nostalgic twist to fitness with her all-time favorite childhood activity—Double Dutch! Her love for the ropes is what inspired her to step into the fitness industry, and now she’s sharing that love with others through Double Dutch Aerobics at the YMCA. Yolanda has been instructing for about a year and a half, and during that time, she’s introduced countless participants to the heart-pumping, rhythm-filled fun of jumping rope—with a twist. Her approach to fitness is simple and irresistible: Fitness + Fun = Double Dutch Aerobics! If you’ve ever thought Double Dutch was too tricky, think again. “We can teach you to jump in under a minute—and you’ll be smiling and sweating the whole time!” Yolanda’s classes are high-energy, welcoming, and full of encouragement.
