Personal Training

Every person is unique with specific goals and physical limitations. Our certified Personal Trainers work with you to develop an exercise program specially designed to meet your needs.

Each of our Personal Trainers is highly qualified with national certifications. They will help you set realistic and attainable goals; and most importantly, they will provide you with encouragement, motivation and accountability to keep you on-track and living well.

Personal Training is available to all our memberships at a very affordable rate.  Our staff of qualified Personal Trainers are happy to give you a free tour of the personal training regime and answer any questions you might have.  We have a number of trainers to choose from.

Katrina Howard, RD, LDN, CPT, Director of Healthy Living, comes to the YMCA as a registered dietitian who believes that living a healthy lifestyle is more than just the foods we consume. She completed her Didactic Program in Dietetics from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois and is a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She completed her dietetic internship at St. Louis University, where she focused on corporate wellness, public health and sport’s nutrition.
016 Justteen W. has been a personal trainer for over 30 years. She is certified through the American Sports and Fitness Association (ASFA) and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA).  She also holds the following group fitness certifications: all Silver Sneakers, Zumba, Zumba Gold, Zumba Step and Yogafit.  Justteen has a medical background, with sports specific training in: golf, softball, volleyball and track.   She is open to train all ages and all fitness levels, regardless of capabilities.  She is great with injuries, injury recovery and special needs.
025 Dan Stephanoff has been a personal trainer for the Peoria YMCA for over 20 years. He is qualified to train all age groups, but specializes in the Baby Boomer generation, helping to motive & create specialized programs that will help our members reach their fitness & wellness goals.  Dan has a B.A. from St. Ambrose University in Physical Education, along with an athletic training degree from Illinois State University.  Dan was a former body builder and will use his wealth of personal training experience to help you set & reach your goals.
003 Sue Neff has been a personal trainer since Spring of 2002. She earned a B.S. in Health Sciences from Bradley University and is certified through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) in personal training and group fitness.  Her clients have ranged from high school and college athletes, to semi pro football players, to the older adult needing to improve balance.  She also loves to work with people who want to lose weight for a special event or vacation or those that want a healthier lifestyle.   
 IMG_0561 (300x184) Janet Higgins is certified through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA).  She has been certified since 2010 and has five years training experience, specializing athletes and weight training.  She has a focus on running and cardio, and enjoys working with older people with varying concerns.  Janet is also a fitness instructor with 12 years of experience teaching cardio and weight training.
 IMG_0565 (300x225) Kari Holland has a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences and holds a certification in CrossFit, Level 1.  She is an active Crossfit competitor and enjoys being active with her family.  Kari has a passion for helping people accomplish their fitness goals and FULLY understands the realities and challenges of fitting in time to exercise.  She is here to help you create a realistic plan to reach your fitness goals.


Taylor Chan has been a personal trainer for 3 years. She has a B.S. in Dietetics from University of Maryland, a M.S. in Nutrition and Wellness from Bradley University (in progress), and is certified by the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF). Taylor enjoys developing creative workouts tailored to clients of all ages and physical capability. She takes a comprehensive approach to wellness by combining fitness and nutrition to help you set realistic goals that fit within the parameters of your life. Taylor strongly believes in promoting a positive attitude toward health to help build self-confidence and find motivation from within. Isaiah Blumenshine has a BS in Health, Fitness & Recreation from Millikin University with a minor in Nutrition. He is a certified personal trainer by the National Council on Strength and Fitness. As a former collegiate athlete he is able to use personal experiences to help you reach your goals and specializes in sport specific training such as football, track, and basketball. He loves to be in a fitness environment and enjoys getting to know people who want to improve their lifestyles through health and wellness.
