Camp Big Hollow Summer Day Camp!

The Peoria YMCA’s Big Hollow Summer Day Camp is a full-day (6:30 AM – 5:30 PM) enrichment camp focused on quality, small-group, age-appropriate activities for kids! Children will play games, spend time outdoors, make new friends, get lots of exercise, explore their passions, & learn new skills! Camp Big Hollow will be their BEST SUMMER YET!

The Peoria YMCA’s Camp is for children 5-10 years old (entering Kindergarten-5th grade). Click on the links below to explore the Y’s summer camp, find answers to any questions you may have and to register your child for camp.

  • We are only accepting online registrations for Camp Big Hollow.

  • The weekly rate for Camp Big Hollow is:
  • $175/week for YMCA/RiverPlex Members.
  • $235/week for Non-Members. (Weekly Rates Only).
  • At the time of registration, each child will be assigned a $25 non-refundable registration fee
  • Spots will fill up quickly, please register for all weeks you plan to attend!
  • Yes! Child Care Connection and/or DCFS is accepted. Child Care Connection/DCFS paperwork must be emailed to Jordyn.porter@peoriaymca.org or faxed to 309-692-4892 no later than 15 days from start of camp (by May 15th).
  • You must register your child(ren) to secure your spot, regardless of the status of your paperwork.
  • Full weekly camp fees will be drafted the Monday morning of each camp week; this payment schedule is set up at the time of online registration.
  • A $20 non-refundable NSF fee is charged to accounts if the payment method does not go through on the Monday morning of each week. Please ensure funds are available or your payment methods is up-to-date.

  • A change of status must be emailed to Jordyn Porter at Jordyn.porter@peoriaymca.org, no later than one-week before the date.
  • Example: I registered by child for Week 3: June 12-16 but can longer attend. The deadline to cancel this week is June 5th.

  • To use our scholarship for Day Camp, you must be denied by Child Care Connection first.
  • Our scholarship differs from the RiverPlex (Park District), you must apply at the YMCA for our scholarship program. We do not accept the Park District Scholarship.
  • Campers will rotate between various activities, crafts, and games throughout the day. There will also be weekly learning opportunities that relate to the YMCA’s core values, which are Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and Caring. Campers will also be provided with a morning and afternoon snack.

  • Yes, each age group will go on 1 field trip per week, and they will go swimming 2 days per week. We will also have community guests that will come to visit the camp throughout the summer!
  • Campers should bring:
  • A backpack
  • A reusable water bottle
  • A swimsuit, towel, and flipflops for swim days
  • A change of clothes for emergencies
  • Tennis shoes
  • Sunglasses/hats
  • Sunscreen
  • Note: Please leave all toys and electronics at home!
  • At this time, campers should bring their own lunch every day. We are working on finding a way to provide campers with a lunch daily.
  • Yes, we will have a designated lost and found bin that will be accessible to campers, parents, and staff. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Items will be donated to charity if they are not claimed.

Some YMCAs offer overnight camps that run from a few days to a few weeks in scenic outdoor areas that span from New Hampshire to Hawaii. Camp programs offer a wide variety of outdoor adventures led by trained and experienced leaders who guide children and teenagers in having an unforgettable experience.
